When I was a kid, Michael Jackson's Thriller did something to me that never quite wore off. The short film, the red jacket, the fog rolling down the street, that bassline, the feeling of being deliciously scared and wanting to dance at the exact same time. It is one of my favourite memories of music.
Thrilled Groove is my love letter to that night, and to the whole sound of the 1980s around it. The neon, the gated drums, the horror-funk basslines, the synths that felt like they were grinning at you from the dark.
I tried to get as close as I could to those vibes and bottle them into something small and fun. Six knobs, one mood. Turn them and you are instantly somewhere between a Carpenter chase scene and a dead-mall arcade at midnight.
